A marriage enrichment organisation, Royal Families has introduced the Power Couples Awards that seek to celebrate and recognising couple that are excelling in different spheres of influence.

The winning couple for the month of January is Tafadzwa and Cathrine Kapswara, directors of a thriving Harare-based design, printing and branding company Casha Dezigns.

The Kapswaras started their company when they were still dating back in 2007 and have been sharing an office and a desk since getting married in 2010.

It was Cathrine who came up with the idea to start the business and left formal employment to work on the project Tafadzwa joined after the wedding.

“The Power Couples Awards, are an innovative creation by Royal Families that seek to celebrate, recognise and honour young couples that are excelling as a team in various spheres of influence such as business, ministry, career, academia and arts,” said Royal Families founder and executive director of the awards Leopold Enson.

“The first award was given to the outstanding couple on January 31, 2022 and every month until the end of the year ,we will announce a winning couple.

“We also plan to ultimately celebrate all monthly winners at the grand Power Couples Awards ceremony to be held on November 25.

“We want to create a movement, network or community of couples that work together so that we promote the idea that spouses can achieve legacies as a team.

“A lot of awards celebrate individuals but us as a marriage centric organisation, we thought it wise to recognise the collaborative effort of husbands and wives.”

For the January winning couple, it has not been an easy journey to success as they had to overcome the first five years of difficulties for the business which even shook the foundations of their marriage, but they stuck together through it all.

The two were thrilled over the recognition.

“It feels amazing. I have no words to describe it. We are happy and thrilled mainly because this award was unexpected,” said Catherine

“Working together has its ups and downs, but it’s been a joy to work with my wife because at least you make your decisions together.

“When you have victories, you are happy together when you go through difficult times you are there to comfort and encourage each other so it’s an honour to work with your spouse.”

Tafadzwa said: “We believe that whenever a husband and a wife are in agreement, the Lord does bless what you do and for us to have come this it’s because we are in agreement and the Lord is helping us in everything that we do.”

Royal Families is looking for partners to help making this initiative a huge success with The Beauty Lounge Zimbabwe having sponsored the January award.
