WHEN Qounfuzed chants "Professor Lalo manamata here?" on his song Kamunamato kekubhawa, many would have thought it was a shout-out to a scholar or academic.
Well, that's not the case. Lalo has never been near a university lecture room, and his degreed siblings are the closest he has come to a degree.
Born Mufaromunashe Shoshore, the man behind Qounfuzed's many hit songs is a beat maker, producer, mixing engineer, and guitarist. He embodies the attributes of Professor Lalo – a master in the studio.
Lalo hails from the lowveld, in Chiredzi. That's where he's been based and worked from since the start of his career.
"I started making beats just after completing my O Levels," he said.
"It didn't take me two weeks to learn how. My family was surprised to see people, even renowned artists, coming home to see me for beats and music production, that's when they embraced my talent and let me be."

In 2011, he started working with the late Kuligan and Kalabash.
"Kuligan was one of the artists who encouraged me to keep working hard. He told me I would go far with music, and here I am, making music for the biggest artists in the country," Lalo said.
Around 2017, Lalo began working with Nash, Stunner, Extra Large, Ti Gonzi, Sani Makhalima. That's also the year he connected with Qounfuzed.
"I started working with Qounfuzed in 2018, but we had been talking since 2017."
"We vibed together and I have worked with him ever since. 80% of his songs come from me. We have a very good working relationship and complement each other well."
Lalo is behind the production of Qounfuzed's songs, such as Hennesy, Shisha, Kamunamato kekubhawa and many more.
"We have more work coming with Qounfuzed. We actually have over 50 unreleased songs, and we promise nothing but bangers."
Lalo is signed under Qounfuzed's Ndururani Clan and does most of Qounfuzed's songs, although he also works with other artists.
