BULAWAYO will host a comedy roast for musician-turned-politician Sandra Ndebele on February 17, at the Rainbow Hotel.
The event, organised by Umahlekisa comedy club led by Ntandoyenkosi Moyo promises to take a humorous yet insightful look into the life of the artist.
Ndebele was elected as a councillor for Bulawayo ward 20 during the December 9 by-elections. The roast will delve into her career in music and her transition into politics, as well as her personal life.
Moyo will serve as the roast master, joined by a talented line-up of comedians and entertainers including Sithandazile Dube, poet and actress, Kudakwashe Takundwa, media personality, Babongile Sikhonjwa, comedian and broadcaster Ezra Sibanda.
The event has been moved from its initial date of February 14 and will now take place in the President's Room at the Rainbow Hotel.
Moyo expressed the desire to return to the club's roots with this event: "We felt it's time to go back to the basics and take back comedy where it belongs.

“We have had partnerships with Rainbow in the past, and during our early stages, that's where many careers were nurtured.”
He further emphasised the significance of the venue and the honouree: "Sandra is a big artist and she should be hosted in a big arena. We are bringing out big guns to roast Sandra, to tackle her life in the arts and personal life. We will have a few surprise guest artists."
Moyo also highlighted the positive impact of comedy roasts: "We hope personalities will understand what a comedy roast can do for them. We have roasted Cal_Vin and me, and our careers rose in the positive. We want to also show that Bulawayo is the home of stand-up comedy with the roast of Sandra Ndebele."
