The Zimbabwe Handball Federations (ZHF) has announced the postponement of the Zone VI Super Cup Club championship, which was scheduled to take place from December  5–9, 2024 at Chitungwiza’s Aquatic Complex.

Top clubs from countries that are part of the Southern African Handball Council as well as east Africa were expected to send their men and women teams for the tournament.

It was going to be the second year in a row that Zimbabwe was hosting this tournament after staging the 2023 edition in Bulawayo.

ZHF announced the development.

“It is with sincere regret that we announce the postponement of the Zonal 6 Supercup Tournament, previously scheduled to take place in the near future,” read the statement from the Zone VI secretary.

“After careful consideration and thorough discussion among the Zone 6 members during our meeting on December 3, 2024, we have collectively decided to postpone the tournament to a later date. This decision was not taken lightly, and we understand the disappointment and inconvenience this may cause.

“The primary reason for the postponement is to ensure that all participating teams have sufficient time to prepare and make necessary arrangements. We want to guarantee a competitive and enjoyable tournament for all involved.

“We appreciate the enthusiasm and commitment shown by our members and participants. We are confident that with this extra time, we will be able to host an even more successful and memorable tournament.

“A new date for the tournament will be communicated in due course. We will work tirelessly to ensure that the event is well-organised and meets the high standards expected of us.

Once again, we apologise for any inconvenience caused by this postponement. We appreciate your understanding and look forward to hosting a fantastic Zonal 6 Supercup Tournament in the near future,” the statement added.

Zimbabwe were supposed to be represented at the event by the winners of the national club championships in the men and women categories respectively, Manyame Falcons and Manyame Sparrows.
