Multi-award-winning martial arts luminary, Shihan Wilfred Mashaya widely known as Zim Ninja, is in the UK where he is expected to exhibit his world-class skills at the WMAC Welsh Open International Martial Arts Tournament to be held today.

The event  to be held at the Ebbw Vale Leisure Centre in South Wales, promises an electrifying display of martial arts excellence across a range of exciting categories, including points fighting, continuous fighting, low kicks, traditional forms, creative forms, freestyle forms, extreme forms, and weapon forms.

Speaking to Standardsport, Mashaya, a serving police officer, said he was proud to represent his country as he showcases his wealth of experience in the discipline.

"It's an honour to represent Zimbabwe at the highest level and I am geared to give it my all.

"Sports is a good way to market the country and I am summoning all my experience to showcase at this major event," he said.

Mashaya, a seasoned expert in the weapons discipline of Kobudo, is no stranger to the UK stage, having competed in the same country earlier this year.

Brimming with confidence, the seasoned martial artist shared his excitement for the upcoming tournament.

 "I am truly honoured to be part of this exceptional event and am confident that my skills and dedication will shine through.

"The Welsh Open International Tournament (WMAC) is a platform for various martial artists to come together and push the boundaries of the art, and I look forward to being a part of this incredible event," he said.

With a storied career that has seen him accumulate a wealth of accolades, Mashaya's presence at the Welsh Open International Tournament WMAC will be the highlight for martial arts enthusiasts.

"I have competed at the highest level and getting numerous accolades for my achievements over the years.

"This time I am even more encouraged to achieve so that I end the year on a high and bring back some good news for my country," he said.

Mashaya is a former World Champion in Weapons, Hall of Famer, 2018 Zimbabwe Sportsperson of the year, regional sportsman of the year 2019 among other multiple achievements.
