GreenFuel FC football administrator, Brandon Mvura believes he is addicted to sports after he became  a certified boxing referee and judge to add to his numerous credentials in different sports codes.

The 37-year-old  is also a qualified football referee, netball umpire, handball referee, tennis officiator, korfball referee, cricket coach, football coach and handball coach.

He is also a Fifa TMS Association and club training manager for amateurs and professionals.

His addiction to sport began in 2018.

“My path in the sports industry took its genesis in 2018 when I qualified as a football referee, and after that grew the passion to know more about other sport codes. I then went on to do various sport courses and I became addicted to sports and wanting to know different styles of games and their rules," Mvura  told The Sports Hub.

"I need to become a  sports guru and end up writing articles about safeguarding players in the sports industry. I want to know more sport codes so that I can make a greater living through sport and in any sport I can take part in.”

Mvura revealed the reason why he chose to pursue sport in the first place.

“My body size, my body mass index made me choose sports since it is easy for me to carry it when officiating or coaching. Moreso, in first world countries, sports pays huge, and I hope one day we will get to that same stage and understand sports better and appreciate it,” he said.

Determination is what  helped him excel and achieve a lot in the world of sports.

“All the effort l put into sports did not go in vain as l managed to grab a top spot in football by being appointed the football administrator for a club in the top flight league in Zimbabwe's Premier Soccer League , Greenfuel FC," Mvura said.

"I have won several awards and medals in officiating and coaching. I am earning a better living through sport. I have a number of awards, I won Bronze at ZITCOSA 2023 with Masvingo Teachers College then gold at ZIMRA Games with Bulawayo team in Masvingo 2023, gold with Masvingo Teachers College at ZITCOSA 2024.

"I also won Best Referee at the N.RICHARDS tournament 2024, won the Best Officiator at ZCC Games 2024. I was also appointed the brand ambassador for Chimanimani Outdoor Centre in Manicaland, for Outdoor Activities,” said Mvura.

Despite him excelling very well in sports he admitted that football is an emotional game whereby if the team does not produce good results, the blame comes back to the administrator.

"The team's supporters never want to lose, so they will be expecting wins in every match of which it doesn't go like that, sometimes we lose, draw or win. Another hiccup is of ladies, they flock to you just because of your post not because of love, so it needs one to be strong and avoid such situations by focusing on what you want to achieve. Be social, but not sexual."

He has a word of advice for those that want to follow in  his footsteps.

“Follow your heart, it is never too late to be a sportsperson. Come to me and I will give you some inspiration. Education is not the only avenue to greatness or better living, try sport and you will never regret it!" he said.

Apart from his love for sport Mvura is also into music which he says is in his DNA and he is launching his new album in South Africa next month.

Mvura got his education at St Anthony's Musiso, Gwitima SDA school, Mudzidzi Primary, Tapudzai Primary, Shingai Primary,

Benzi Secondary, Jaka Secondary, Terry Goss High, Foundation College and  Prince Edward School.

He also acquired a certificate in broadcasting (Radio Presenter Master Class) with Centre for Broadcasting Excellence, Diploma in Marketing at Harare Polytechnic, degree in project planning, monitoring and evaluation from Great Zimbabwe University, degree in business management with British College of Commercial Management as well as an Advanced Diploma in Sports Management and Administration with ICM (UK).
