The Heart Women Soccer League took a significant step towards professionalism, hosting a successful congress that endorsed Herentals Queens' Loveness Wadzanai Makura and Black Rhinos Queens' Colonel Ntokoziso Moyo for key positions in the upcoming Zimbabwe Football Association (Zifa) elections.
Makura garnered 12 votes for the Zifa vice president post, while Mavis Gumbo and Patience Mutumwa received three and two votes, respectively.
Colonel Moyo secured 12 votes for the Zifa executive board member position, surpassing Sibongile Zikhali's five votes.
League chairperson Theresa Maguraushe expressed satisfaction with the electoral process, commending delegates for exercising their democratic right maturely and respectfully.
"The congress gathered and, speaking with one voice, endorsed the candidature of Loveness for the VP post and Col Moyo for the executive board member position. The clubs firmly believe that both possess the vision, expertise, and passion necessary to propel women's soccer forward in Zimbabwe," Maguraushe said.
"Their unwavering commitment to promoting gender equality, empowerment, and competitiveness aligns perfectly with our shared objectives. They're the league's best foot forward and deserve everyone's support."

The congress made several binding decisions.
"The congress also finalised amendments to the Zimbabwe Women Soccer League constitution. The constitution will be forwarded to Zifa for adoption before it is ratified by the same congress," she added.
"The meeting came up with a code of conduct for the members outlining parameters in which they should operate during their tenure of office, and it was also agreed that the current league season be concluded on December 7."
