The Warriors team made of locally based players will be looking to begin their CHAN qualifiers campaign with a win when they host Eswatini in Botswana tomorrow.
Zimbabwe are making a return to the continental event after missing a number of competitions due to an international ban.
On paper Eswatini, who are coached by former Warriors coach Zdravko Logarisic, look like they are easy opponents in the first qualifying round.
But Zimbabwe has opted to use the match to develop a team for the future by naming a youthful squad.
There is only a handful of experienced players who include Godknows Murwira, Donovan Benard, Brian Banda and Obriel Chirinda.
Assistant coach Takesure Chiragwi has been given full charge of the team.

"I think so far so good we have started well and we have seen the hunger in these youngsters. With the help of the senior guys that we have in Donovan, Murwira, Obriel and Banda I think it's giving a lot of depth in the team in terms of guidance," Chiragwi said.
"And from the youngsters you can see there is a lot of energy in them and we hope to see them giving their best like they are giving in training now. I don't think there is any group or coach, who prepares the team to go and lose the match but we always prepare to go and win.
"Our aim is to go there and make sure we give these youngsters the platform for the future and their integration into the senior team. But at the same time they have to understand and know that they are representing the country and they have to play and win because we always play to win as a nation."
The Warriors flew to Bulawayo yesterday and then drove to Botswana.
Francistown's Obedi Itani Chilume staddium will host the match which kicks off at 3 pm.
