The Zimbabwe Open Committee has expressed to their sponsors and partners ahead of the 2024 edition of the FBC Zimbabwe Open which takes place early next month.
This year's event which is the 12th edition since the reintroduction of the Sunshine Tour sanctioned Zimbabwe Open in 2010 will run from May 5-12 and will include a ProAm event in the run up to the main championship.
A total of 144 golfers including 35 local professionals are going to part in the FBC Zimbabwe Open.
Some of the top golfers to fly the country's flag in the competition include brothers Scott and Kieran Vincent, Robson Chinhoi, Ben Follett-Smith and Stuart Krog among others.
FBC Holdings Group are the title sponsors of the flagship golf event for the third in a row.
The Zimbabwe Open Committee chairperson Livingston Gwata expressed gratitude to FBC Holdings Group and other partners for supporting the country's premier golf event.

“It gives me great pleasure as the chairman of the Zimbabwe Open Committee to launch the 2024 edition of the FBC Zimbabwe Open. We are looking forward to a successful 12th national tournament in this series. The tournament will run from Sunday the 5th of May to Sunday the 12 of May with the professional competition being played on the last four days from Thursday the 9th of May through to Sunday the 12th of May,” he said at the press launch of the FBC Zimbabwe Open last week.
“We are most grateful to our sponsors FBC Holdings and their partners who have committed their premier brands to our national premier golf tournament.
“You may be interested to know that our international and local players consider this event as one of the top events on the Sunshine Tour. That is a very special accolade considering that the Sunshine Tour is the biggest Tour on the African continent.
“We take this national event to showcase golf being played at world class level in the hope that this will inspire our young up and coming golfers to attain the highest level in golf. The Zimbabwe Golf Association (ZGA) has the mandate to develop golf at an amateur level throughout the country and in this regard, we do not miss any opportunity to ensure some of the proceeds from our national event are channeled toward golf development through the ZGA,” Gwata said.
The Zim Open Committee comprises four individuals namely Themba Ndebele, Alex Siyavora, Michael Mahachi and Gwata.
Apart from the FBC Holdings, other partners of the international event include Zimre Holdings Limited who are the associate sponsors for the first this year but were involved in the previous year.
There are also anchor sponsors who include Golden Pilsener, Cimas and Firstlink Insurance Brokers.
Other partners include Bon Marché Zimbabwe, Royal Harare Golf Club, Sahwira Events and Lifestyle, Huletts SA, Liquid Home Zimbabwe, Rooneys Zimbabwe, GuardAlert Security Services, Zuva Petroleum, Nomads and Alpha Media Holdings who are the media partners.
