DYNAMOS’ coach Genesis Mangombe is confident that his side can still catch up with Castle Lager Premier Soccer League pacesetters Highlanders.

Mangombe watched his side play out an uninspiring goalless stalemate against Simba Bhora which took them to 33 points, eight behind Highlanders as the Harare giants prepare for the next game against Cranborne Bullets at Nyamhunga Stadium at the weekend.

Asked about his targets at the end of the season, Mangombe, yet to lose a game since he took over at Dynamos, did not mince his words.

“We take each game as it comes. We always want to win titles, there is no secret about that. The log leaders are still within reach but we need to work very hard so that we start collecting maximum points and have consistency in winning and not losing points like when playing teams like Simba; when you want to be champions you need to win these games,” Mangombe said.

The Dynamos’ gaffer said they are doing everything right in terms of play and would work on precision upfront.

“We are promising positive results when we play Cranborne at Nyamhunga. We are not going to change anything and the good thing is what we want is coming up except for the goals. We are doing everything right, keeping possession for the better part of the game. That is one thing that we have been working on and it is coming up, so when we play Cranborne we will make sure we work on our finishing at training and how to penetrate a low block because that is what we expect when we play Cranborne,” Mangombe said.

In their quest to lift the title, Dynamos, who recently parted ways with coach Herbert Maruwa and elevated Mangombe, have to contend with Highlanders, Ngezi Platinum Stars and Manica Diamonds.

Chicken Inn and reigning champions FC Platinum are also in the picture with the latter bubbling after handing Highlanders their first defeat of the season at Mandava Stadium on Saturday.
