BENJANI Mwaruwari Jr has joined Western League Premier Division side Sherborne Town on a one-month loan from Yeovil Town in a bid to get some regular first team football under his belt.
The 18-year-old son of former Zimbabwe international Benjani Mwaruwari signed his first professional contract with Yeovil Town two months ago after an impressive run of form in the junior ranks for the English fifth tier side.
He will be hoping to continue his development by getting some regular first team action at Sherborne Town before returning to possibly challenge for a starting place in the Yeovil Town first team squad.
Yeovil Town confirmed Benjani Jr’s loan move in a statement on their official website.
“Yeovil Town can confirm that Benjani Jr has joined Sherborne Town on a one-month loan. This will be the 18-year-old’s first taste of senior football, after he signed his first professional with Yeovil Town earlier this season,” the club said.
“The loan move follows a cameo appearance in the Somerset Premier Cup against Taunton Town, where he looked bright during his 20 minutes on the pitch. Now looking to step up his development, the young forward will line-up in the Toolstation Western League for the Zebras. Good luck, Benji!”

Benjani Jr will be hoping to get some regular first-team action for Sherborne Town, who ply their trade in the Western Football League.
Commonly known as the Toolstation League, the Western Premier Division League is the ninth tier of English football and has 40 member clubs covering Bristol, Cornwall, Devon, Somerset, Dorset, parts of Gloucestershire and Wiltshire.
Benjani Jr joined Yeovil Town last year after not being offered a scholarship by his dad’s former club Portsmouth, who are now plying their trade in the third-tier League One.
Since his arrival at Yeovil Town, Benjani Jnr has become something of a goal machine which has resulted in him becoming the team’s third professional player in three years to come from within.
Benjani Jr was prolific for Yeovil’s Under-18s last season, after scoring 25 goals and managing 16 assists in 30 games for the Under-18 side.
He was also the top scorer as the Under 18s won the national college seven-a-side tournament.
He also enjoyed involvement with the first team, making his Somerset Premier Cup debut from the substitutes’ bench.
