NGEZI Platinum extended their unbeaten run to seven games after they were held to a goalless draw by amyside Black Rhinos at Baobab Stadium yesterday.

It was a tale of two halves as the hosts dominated the first while Rhinos had an upperhand in the second but neither team could bag maximum points

Takesure Chiragwi, who took over as head coach following the departure of Benjani Mwaruwari a couple of months back has lost once in his nine matches in charge.

Ngezi are now firm contenders for a top four finish but Chiragwi could not be drawn to talk about his team's chances.

"I dont want to talk about how we are going to finish the season. But what is important is how we played this game because I think we still have three games to go. I think we started very well, we got our chances we were in control in the first half and I think the time we were in control we got clear chances but we couldn't convert," he said.

Denver Mukamba, who was making a comeback into the team after missing four matches,  had the first sniff of goal from inside the box early in the game which was dealt with by goalkeeper Stanley Chakwana.

The visitors had a chance of their own moments later after forward Eli Ilunga dribbled past Kudzai Chigwida but shot weakly at Nelson Chadya.

Delic Murimba had the best chance for Ngezi coming face to face with Chakwana but the latter produced a stunning save to keep the scores level around the half hour mark

Bruno Mtigo could have wrapped up three points for the hosts in stoppage time after he was picked out by Tapiwa Manyenya with a flicked pass but he blazed the effort over the bar  from six yards.

It was an impressive performance for Black Rhinos who were kicked out of Chibuku Cup after a penalty shootout loss against Bulawayo Chiefs.

Coach Stanford Mutizwa was happy with his team's performance but bemoaned a wet pitch in Mhondoro-Ngezi.

I am happy with the performance. My boys wanted to adjust to the flooded pitch of which at some point I think it disadvantaged us. But we managed to come out with a draw," he said.
