Doug Mamvura “What is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you visit him? For you have made him a little lower than angels, and you have crowned him with glory and honour. You have made him to have dominion over the works of your hands. You have put all things under his feet” (Psalm 8: 3- 6).
This is the truth about how a human being has been created. However, the situation on the ground is completely different. “I said you are gods, and all of you are children of the Most High. But you shall die like mere men” (Psalm 82:6-7). “I have seen slaves riding on horses, and princes walking like slaves on the ground” (Ecclesiastes 10:7).
One might ask why would one die like a mere man or slaves ride on horses while princes are walking on foot and yet God said that we should have dominion and He also put all things under our feet?”. God never created a junk person. There is no one who is born a failure. Failure is man- made. What then separates successful people from failures?
Success is based on one word- Wisdom. No wonder why the bible makes it clear that we should get wisdom because “it is the principle thing”. How does one go about this process of getting the principle thing? The bible makes it very clear that “the fear of the Lord is the beginning of all wisdom”. It is only a fool who says there is no God”.
This process therefore starts with a relationship with God. God’s foolishness is wiser than man’s wisdom” (1 Corinthians 1:25). This is profound. “As high as the heavens are above the earth so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts higher than your thought” (Isaiah 55:9). The same Word then says “we have the mind of Christ” (1 Corinthians 2:16). Those thoughts that are as high as the heavens are above the earth are now in us as born-again people. So we are unstoppable.
This is how we are supposed to have dominion on this earth and live victorious lives.

Indeed, wisdom is the principle thing no wonder King Solomon asked God for wisdom when God had wanted to know what he wanted from Him. This is the best decision that King Solomon made. The results of this request were stunning: “Now God gave Solomon exceptional wisdom and very great discernment and breadth of mind, like the sand of seashore. Solomon’s wisdom surpassed the wisdom of all the sons of the east and all the wisdom of Egypt. For he was wiser than all other men.” (1 Kings 4: 29 -31).
Solomon’s wisdom was on display during the visit of Queen of Sheba. “Solomon answered all her questions, nothing was hidden from him which he did not make clear to her. So when the Queen of Sheba saw the depth of Solomon’s wisdom, the house he had built, she was breathless. She said half of the greatness of your wisdom was not told to me, you have surpassed the report that I heard” (2 Chronicles 9: 2- 5).
We see another example in Exodus 31: 1-3 “Now the Lord said to Moses, “See I have called by name Bezalel, son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Juda. I have filled him with the Spirit of God in wisdom and skill, in understanding and intelligence, in knowledge, and in all kinds of craftsmanship, to make artistic designs for work in gold, in silver and in bronze and in cutting of stones for settings and in carving of wood to work in all kinds of craftsmanship”.
Notice that the Spirit of God gave Bezaleel this wisdom and understanding to do all this workmanship. The ability to work and create things isn’t just natural. It’s a gift of the Holy Spirit. Bezaleel took advantage of the wisdom that God had given him.
Wisdom is such a powerful arsenal in one’s life. “For wisdom is better than rubies, and all the things one may desire cannot be compared with her. I wisdom dwell with prudence and find out knowledge and discretion. Counsel is mine and sound wisdom. Riches and honour are with me, enduring riches and righteousness. My fruit is better than gold, yes than fine gold. The Lord possessed me at the beginning of His way” (Proverbs 8: 10-22).
The instruction of wisdom is better than gold and silver. What a statement! Gold and silver can purchase a lot of things, but wisdom will provide us with wealth and much more. “Happy is the man who finds wisdom and the man who gains understanding for her proceeds are better than the profits of silver and her gain than fine gold. She is more precious than rubies. All the things you may desire cannot compare with her” (Proverbs 3 :13 -15).
We have seen the power of wisdom and how people like Solomon and Bezaleel among many other people in the old testament were able to benefit from this treasure. Solomon was definitely outstanding and he was considered the wisest man during his time. However, I have news for you.
Did you know that you have the capacity to be wiser than Solomon? Why do I say so? Matthew 12:42 gives us a clue. In this verse we see Jesus making a profound statement saying” a greater than Solomon is here”. We are so blessed in that this “greater than Solomon” now lives in us. In Christ “are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge”.
All truth, all knowledge, all wisdom, and all understanding are in Christ, and we are in Christ. Therefore, everything we need to know and understand is found in Christ. In Christ are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. Since we are in Him and He is in us all the “wisdom and knowledge” of God is in us. It’s in our born-again spirits. It doesn’t have to just stay there. We can draw it out. You and I as believers, have absolutely no reason to live foolishly when Christ lives in us permanently.
The Bible also states that we were given a spirit of “power, love and a sound mind”. We have a sound mind and this means that we are able to think at a much higher level than ordinary human beings. We are supernatural human beings. This should be evident in our daily lives, whether at work, home, school, church or wherever we are. It is very important that we tap into this wisdom that is resident within us.
Apostle Paul prayed in Ephesians 3: 19 “that we may be filled with all the fullness of God”. This is powerful. This means that we have to be filled to capacity with the fullness of God. The wisdom that created the heavens and the earth is resident within you. What are you doing with it? Why are you thinking too small? Why is your vision so tiny? You have a creative mind and so why are you running out of ideas? How can you be beaten by Solomon and the other people who lived in the Old Testament who never had Christ (in whom all the treasures of wisdom are hidden) and yet you have this treasure resident in you? No wonder princes are walking on foot while slaves are riding on horses. No wonder some of us are dying like mere man.
We have to grow in wisdom and grace and exhibit the treasure that is in us. Have you ever thought about why the bible says as He is, so are we in this world? (1 John 4:17). It’s time that you “put the new man which was created according to God in true righteousness and holiness” (Ephesians 4:24). As we do that and meditate on his word day and night we will certainly “obtain success and whatever we do “shall prosper”. This is because the word of God, is the wisdom of God. Feed on that word and your life will never be the same. You will be greater than Solomon in terms of wisdom.
