In one’s prophetic journey as a dreamer, there comes a moment of awakening — realizing that dreams are not just fading experiences but God’s way of communicating His divine plans with humanity. In this article, we explore what it truly means to be a prophetic dreamer and how to unlock the full potential of this incredible gift.
Joel 2:28 declares God’s promise: “I will pour out my spirit on all flesh.” This outpouring isn’t limited to a select few, but extends to all believers. When God speaks of pouring out His Spirit on flesh, it means our physical bodies. Many assume that the flesh and the carnal nature are the same, but they are not. Our flesh was designed to function fully on this earth, and God desires to work through it. Contrary to popular belief that we are at war with the flesh, Our war is the carnal nature. The greatest encounters with God occur when our physical senses are active, and our bodies are fully engaged.
The outpouring of God’s Spirit enables every believer to prophesy. Joel’s prophecy outlines that sons and daughters will be prophetic and should prophecy meaning every child of God who has received God’s Spirit should be prophetic. He speaks again that the old men will dream dreams many wonder who are these old man are and what are these dreams they dream. These old are custodians of God’s plans and are shown Gods desires through dreams they are not old but mature Christians, Joel was foreseeing a generation of prophetic people. This is not a distant event but something that’s unfolding in this very generation.
Yet, many people hunger for the prophetic without realising that the hunger isn’t just to receive prophecy — it’s to prophesy. We are called to go beyond simply seeking prophetic words and instead become vessels through whom those words flow.
After the Tower of Babel, humanity lost a form of divine communication. But this communication was restored in Acts 2 when the Holy Spirit descended on the disciples. They spoke in different tongues, and people from many nations understood them. This marked the restoration of God’s language—a language that manifests in dreams, visions, and prophetic speech. The outpouring prophesied by Joel already happened, but many are still awakening to its reality.
The first key is recognising that God is already speaking to you. Those fleeting thoughts, dreams, and ideas you might dismiss are often more than mere coincidences. They may be divine revelations. You must learn to discern the voice of God in those moments and understand that you too, are part of His prophetic plan.

I often teach that the prophetic journey begins with desire. That desire leads to knowledge, and knowledge leads to participation. As your hunger for the things of God grows, you will naturally seek more understanding. This understanding brings you to a place where you can step fully into your role as a prophetic dreamer, participating in God’s divine plan.
Prophetic dreaming is not just about receiving personal revelations—it’s about manifesting God’s visions for the world. As dreaming prophets, we must align ourselves with the Spirit of God, allowing Him to speak through us. Embrace this journey, nurture your desire for God’s voice, and be bold in stepping into the prophetic gift that has already been placed within you.
To be a prophetic dreamer is to fully embrace your identity as a prophetic individual. While many wait for prophets to speak, God desires to equip every believer with prophesy. You are prophetic, and the world is waiting for the manifestation of that gift.
