Entrapment is a practice in which a law enforcement agent or anyone who represents the state induces a person to commit a crime.
The agents create scenarios that force a suspect to commit a crime and their argument is the person was more likely to commit this crime so they just created scenarios they control so as to gather evidence against the individual.
The devil uses such methods against believers. The Bible says in Ephesians 6:11: “Put on the whole armour that God gives to us. So then you will continue to be strong against all the clever ways by which the Devil attacks us.” (EasyEnglish)
The devil is clever and many have been entrapped in his snares because they underestimate the enemy and his tricks.
Law enforcement agents closely follow the suspects they wish to entrap for years gathering evidence against them. The devil uses such tricks as well. He knew every aspect about Job’s life and before he came to God, he had so much information about Job. Most people who are entrapped by law enforcement agents were going to commit the crimes they were then arrested for. These agents set them up to gather evidence for prosecution.
The devil notices those slight glances when you walk past a woman/man and those times you lie and it seems so small. He closely follows you and knows all your weaknesses and what methods he can employ in order to bring out the worst in you.

Remember the Bible says God does not tempt anyone, but every man is tempted when he is drawn away by his own lust. The devil just capitalises on things he knows about you and uses them to his advantage. The devil does not know the future, but he can predict certain events by studying men. So he uses this predictive nature to create snares and traps for believers.
Most arrests done by law enforcement agents when they trap suspects result in convictions. The devil has studied man for years and knows ways to lead man to turn against God and he skilfully plans and plots for years in order to get at a believer. He can manipulate events in order to give you an opportunity to sin.
Though he can set up snares, what angers him is God’s mercy. Imagine the years he invested in studying Job and the attacks he finally made against him. Yet God, through his mercy, restored Job. Though the devil attacked Job, he did not expect the faithful one of God to remain steadfast in his relationship with the Lord.
Though the law enforcement agents can set a trap, it’s up to the individual to take the bait. Most entrapments lead to arrests, but the devil may fail in his attempts to bring down a believer because God’s mercy cancels out his plans. Even after one has failed to live up to the expectations of the Lord, a believer can still claim victory because the Lord is merciful. But this is not to say none failed to recover, some remained in traps. The Bible speaks of people like Demas who left Paul for pleasures of the world.
What aided Job’s restoration was his ability to remain faithful and consistent in God. We should never underestimate the cleverness of the enemy and the wisdom he has. Don’t allow yourself to be entrapped. Deal with anything in your life before the devil uses that to trap you. God bless you.
God Bless you
