A 26-YEAR-OLD man from Pumula South in Bulawayo has been jailed for five years for stabbing his biological father five times after he stopped him from raping his niece.
The man appeared before the Western Comorage Court on a charge of attempted murder.
According to the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) on March 23 this year, the man wanted to rape his cousin, who is the complainant’s niece.
The court heard that the niece, in an attempt to save herself, sought refuge at the complainant’s bedroom.
The man followed the niece into his father’s bedroom carrying a kitchen knife.
The NPAZ said when his father tried to restrain and block him from attacking his niece, the man attacked and stabbed the former five times.
