A driver employed by Veterinary Distributors allegedly robbed the company’s auditors of cash amounting to US$22 000 during an assignment.
John Kapfunye (35) was remanded in custody to May 17 by Harare magistrate Donald Ndirowei for his trial date when he appeared before a Harare magistrate last week.
Prosecutor Anesu Chirenje said on April 20, Kapfunye was assigned by his superiors to accompany Tendai hinhoro and Blessed Kamala to collect some cash in Borrowadle and Westgate.
Kamala and Chinhoro are employed by Veterinary Distributors as auditors.
The accused allegedly connived with his accomplices John Mafigu and Godknows Shelton Mukuruzado to rob the auditors after collecting the cash totalling US$22 000.
Kapfunye’s accomplices were allegedly clad in police uniform and carrying pistols when they pounced on the vehicle ferrying the cash.
