A security guard is in trouble after he allegedly stole a firearm from his workplace and gave it to his brother as a birthday gift.
Tinashe Sibanda (25) from Dzivarasekwa appeared before Harare magistrate Dennis Mangosi on Friday over the charges.
Prosecutor Rufaro Chonzi said on December 22 in 2020, Sibanda was deployed at a Cabs bank branch along First Street and was in possession of a 38 Tauraus revolver.
It is alleged that Sibanda did not surrender the firearm when he knocked off from work and went into hiding.
On March 23 this year, detectives from CID Homicide received information to the effect that the accused person had reported back at work seeking his old job.
During interogation Sibanda revealed that he had given the firearm to his brother as a gift.
