THE body of a female student teacher was discovered in her room at a school in Gweru with police in the Midlands capital suspecting she may have been murdered.

Midlands provincial police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed the incident, adding that the deceased had been identified as Keener Tsanana, a student teacher at Guinea Fowl High School.

Mahoko said police suspect Tsanana was murdered by her boyfriend who is also a student at Hillside Teachers' College in Bulawayo.

“The Zimbabwe Republic Police are keen to interview one Valentine Tamuka Zivera in connection with the (suspected) murder of a 21-year-old female teacher who was found lying dead in a room at Guinea Fowl High School. The body was found on January 25 at about 8pm,” he said.

“Simbarashe Dzimba, employed as a security guard at the school, reported the matter to the police (and) investigations revealed that the now deceased was last seen on January 24 in the company of Zivera, a student at Hillside Teachers' College in Bulawayo who is believed to be her boyfriend.”

Mahoko said the two were seen entering the school premises and Tsanana's body was discovered the following day.

He appealed to anyone with information on Zivera's whereabouts to report to the nearest police station.
