A 20-YEAR-OLD man from Esikhoveni village, Mawabeni, Esigodini, has been arrested for allegedly stealing a Doves Funeral Services ambulance.
Bulawayo police spokesperson assistant inspector Nomalanga Msebele confirmed the arrest of Sean Ndlovu.
“On January 18, at 9pm and at Doves Funeral Services, a company driver who was driving out of the gate of Doves premises noticed that the company ambulance, a Toyota Hiace, was being reversed out of the centre parking,” Msebele said.
She said the company driver got suspicious since other Doves drivers had gone to a funeral.
“The company driver approached the motor vehicle and noticed that there was an unknown driver inside who stopped the vehicle, switched off the lights and locked himself inside the vehicle,” Msebele said.
She stated that the company driver asked Ndlovu to open the door and he complied.

“He found Ndlovu with a car key which does not belong to Doves. A police report was made leading to Ndlovu’s arrest.
“The alertness of the Doves driver led to the recovery of the vehicle before it went far.”
In an unrelated incident, a car rental company lost its vehicle to a suspect.
“On January 14, Mzingaye Ncube contacted a rental company through the phone requesting to hire a Toyota Hilux to attend a funeral in Masvingo,” Msebele said.
“After he accessed the vehicle the company tried to reach Ncube but his mobile phone was not reachable, a police report was made.”
Msebele said the stolen motor vehicle was valued at US$33 000 and efforts to locate it were underway.
“We urge the business community to thoroughly vet their potential customers before engaging in any business with them,” Msebele said.
