THE Methodist Church in uMzingwane, Matabeleland South province, has drilled a borehole and donated furniture to the Mathew Rusike Children’s Home in the district.

“The members of the church have funded drilling of boreholes and at the moment, we are left with installing solar and tanks,” Methodist Church Mzinyathi circuit leader reverend Obey Muchena told Southern Eye in an interview.

“This should go a long way as it will help in introducing some farming and poultry projects as we have a big space within our home.”

Muchena said they were planning to implement income-generating projects to ensure the children’s home was self-sustaining.

“Some vulnerable children within our community have been engaging in activities such as prostitution and gold panning in search of food, so we are working hard to cater for them so that they can stop those activities which could harm their future,” he added.

“Our aim is to cater for all vulnerable children and orphans so that we provide them with better living standards so that their future will be bright as they are entitled to a good life.”
