The City of Gweru has set aside US$60 000 for road rehabilitation in the central business district (CBD).
The local authority’s finance director Owen Masimba confirmed the development in an interview with The Mirror.
He said the money was set aside from City Parking fees.
“Proceeds from vehicle parking have been set aside to rehabilitate and improve the city’s road network. We have set aside at least US$60 000 for the road rehabilitation project.
“The money is part of remittances collected from Gweru City Parking and we always ring fence these funds to enhance service delivery and progress,” he said.
Masimba said the local authority will lobby the government and Zinara to release more funding for the rehabilitation of the city’s road network.
