BINGA South legislator Fanuel Cumanzala has bemoaned the lack of internet facilities within his constituency, a challenge which is making it difficult for school children to do online research for their studies.
In an interview with Southern Eye this week, Cumanzala said there were few network boosters in Binga, a situation that was making it difficult to surf the internet for research purposes.
“The majority of areas in Binga South constituency do not have access to radio, television and internet connectivity. Mobile service providers’ boosters are also not easily accessible,” he said.
Cumanzala said six areas in the constituency were affected due to the lack of boosters.
“Areas such as Pashu, Siadindi, Sinamagonde, Chibila, Mabobolo and Chinonge largely do not have network connectivity due to lack of boosters,” he said.
“This implies that the majority of people do not have access to information transmitted through radio, television and other forms of media.”

Cumanzala said by ensuring that the areas receive network and information, this would create a more informed, educated and engaged society, leading to better outcomes for individuals and communities.
He said the province was in serious need of internet connectivity so that there is progress in terms of people who are always invested in doing research and for those who want to stay updated.
“Therefore, there is an urgent need for these areas to have access to mobile network, television and radio transmitters in order to facilitate access to information,” Cumanzala said.
