VILLAGERS in Nkayi have appealed to stakeholders and interested investors to fund the education sector in the district to empower children in the community for a better future.
Speaking during the Nkayi Diaspora Engagement Summit recently, Chief Mbusi Dakamela called on the investors to target the education sector as this would have a huge impact on the district’s development.
“As we are gracing this event we hope the investors will fund the completion of Dakamela High science lab in which we require US$22 736 for its completion,” he said.
“Once it will be completed, it will help our rural children to partake and also excel in science subjects which they have been lagging behind due to unavailability of infrastructure and materials to conduct their science experiments.”
Chief Dakamela said they were facing a huge problem with children having to travel long distances of about 28km to Hlangabeza High the only school nearby offering such facilities which is Hlangabeza High.
“Now as our school was granted a status of to be high school last year it is a great advantage and the completion of our lab building will make it easy for children to do science subjects and empower our children to pursue science careers in future hence making the development of our area to take place,” he said.

Nkayi South legislator Jabulani Hadebe donated textbooks to Dakamela High, Gonye Secondary and Simbengo Primary School.
“As I am donating the textbooks to all three schools, my aim is to immerse the culture of reading with our future leaders and I hope these textbooks will help them to improve in their studies,” he said.
Hadebe said education was key for the development of an area as it led to the creation of new ideas that are responsible for making people’s lives better.
