BULAWAYO’S ward 6 councillor Nkosinathi Mpofu has urged Bulawayo City Council (BCC) to communicate effectively with residents on service delivery issues to avoid conflict.

Speaking on the sidelines of a water billing workshop held in Bulawayo last week, Mpofu said there was need for effective communication between the local authority and ratepayers as this resulted in an improvement in revenue collection.

“As councillors, we urge the council water department to improve communication so that residents are informed and can be able to act accordingly,” he said.

Mpofu said BCC should stop estimating bills as this usually results in residents losing confidence in the local authority.

“BCC urged us as councillors to encourage the residents to pay bills on time as this will help in improving service delivery,” he said.

“As councillors, we also urged BCC to attend water bursts on time so that they can stop loss of treated water as the city is under a water crisis.”
