POLICE in Midlands are on a man-hunt for a man who allegedly fatally struck a 23 year-old man with an axe over a petty dispute.
The suspect is only identified as Wesley.
Provincial spokesperson assistant inspector Emmanuel Mahoko said the incident occurred on July 6, 2024.
“At about 04:00 hours, Tinashe Denhere, a resident of Shurugwi, was in the company of a friend on their way from a local bar to work,” Mahoko said.
“Along the way, they met three men who have only been identified as Nyasha, Wesly and Mhizha.
“The three blocked the way.”

He said an altercation arose between the men.
“One of the suspects, Wesley who is also known as Sabhuku, withdrew a small axe from his waist and struck Denhere several times on the head,” he said.
“The suspect fled from the scene leaving Denhere lying in a pool of blood. The matter was reported to the police and the victim was referred Shurugwi hospital for medical attention.”
