LUPANE Local Board has threatened to take legal action against all defaulting ratepayers.

Town secretary Charlton Moyo said there would be no sacred cows during the operation as the local authority sought to boost its revenue flows.

“Once this legal action has commenced, all engagements pertaining to these overdue accounts shall no longer be handled in the normal course of operations, but through legal representatives,” he said.

“We are targeting all stakeholders, whether residential or commercial. We are especially looking into those with outstanding balances on rentals, general dealer and liquor licences.”

Moyo said the local authority was owed US$1,2 million by ratepayers.

He urged residents to take the call seriously to avoid the impending legal action, adding that debtors could agree with council on payment plans.
