THE government is targeting Zimbabweans in the diaspora to invest in Matabeleland South province as preparations for the Diaspora Investment Conference set for July 4 to 6 in Beitbridge gather momentum.
The conference will be held under the theme Matabeleland South province: Unlocking New Investment Frontiers through Diaspora Community Engagement.
In a statement recently, the Foreign Affairs and International Trade ministry said the event will be held in hybrid format, allowing both physical and virtual participation so that stakeholders in various investment sectors are able to participate.
“Government ministries, departments and agencies mandated to enhance diaspora participation in national development will also participate in the conference,” the ministry said.
It further indicated that the conference’s main objectives included unveiling opportunities within the province for diaspora uptake and other potential investors and building momentum set by the Nation Diaspora Investment Conference held in Masvingo early this year.
“The conference presents opportunities for the diaspora community, local and foreign investors including the private sector, to participate and engage in dialogue on potential investments opportunities and possible partnership Matabeleland South has to offer,” the ministry said.
