TWO Zimbabwean men have been sentenced to one-year jail term by a Botswana court after being convicted of illegally entering the country.
Johnson Maposa (39) and Mayibongwe Khumalo (28) appeared at a court in Francistown where they pleaded guilty to a charge of violating immigration laws before being further remanded for another offence of possessing a live tortoise.
The court was told that the accused were caught at Ngangane Game Reserve near Matsiloje Village on April 8 by the anti-poaching unit.
It is reported that a search was conducted leading to the discovery of the tortoise.
The duo was also found in possession of a plastron of a dead tortoise leading to their arrest.
