A 39-YEAR-OLD man from Fort Rixon, in Insiza Matabeleland South has appeared in court facing four counts of raping his friend’s daughter aged 10.
The man, who cannot be identified to protect the identity of the minor, pleaded guilty when he appeared on Thursday before Bulawayo regional Magistrate, Mathew Mutiro, who remanded him in custody to March 27.
The court heard that in 2022, the child was staying together with her parents at a Fort Rixon compound owned by the man. It is the State case that on an unnamed date, the man was left in custody of the minor.
The man then called the girl to join him in bed and ordered her to remove her clothes before raping her. He warned her against reporting the matter.
In July 2023, the girl was again left in the custody of the man when her parents went to church. At night, the man left his wife in bed, sneaked into the girl’s blankets and raped her.
Later that night, the man returned to the girl and raped her again. He repeated the sexual assault on December 3, 2023.

The parents later discovered that the man was abusing their child and a report was made to the police. The man ran away, but was later arrested.
