EMPUMALANGA clinic in Hwange has embarked on a malaria awareness programme in partnership with Plan International where it is distributing mosquito nets.
The sister-in-charge at the Hwange Local Board- run clinic Sindiso Mhlanga said this was in response to a surge in malaria cases.
"We recorded a high number of positive malaria cases, some of which we managed at our facility while some were referred to St Patrick's Hospital,” Mhlanga said.
“The distribution of nets is a continuous exercise whereby we target families with nine-month old babies, pregnant mothers as well as those that request for them citing that the ones they got would have been torn.”
Empumalanga Clinic offers а variety of healthcare services to the community, which include outpatients services, antenatal care, opportunistic infection (Ol) and antiretroviral therapy (ART) services among others.
The facility continues to accommodate patients beyond its catchment area largely due to its splendid services and free medications.
