POLICE in Bulawayo have arrested three men who were found in possession of stolen copper cables weighing 16 kilogrammes.
In a statement, provincial police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube confirmed the arrest of the suspects who were ferrying the loot in their Honda Fit vehicle.
He said the suspects were arrested after police received a tip-off to the effect that there was a silver Honda Fit vehicle carrying some copper cables at Mazai Bridge located along 4th Avenue extension.
“When the vehicle stopped at a traffic light-controlled intersection, police officers approached and introduced themselves. They ordered the driver to open the rear passenger door for them to get inside the car," he said.
“One of the suspects then bolted out of the motor vehicle. The vehicle was searched and a sack containing copper cables with an estimated weight of 16 kilogrammes was found in the boot of the vehicle which led to their arrest.”
Ncube identified the suspects as Senzeni Moyo (34) of Cowdray Park, Thembani Ngwenya (27) of Hope Fountain Village, who was the driver, and Louis Ngwenya (25) of Hope Fountain, Bulawayo. Ncube hailed the community for working hand in glove with the police.
