A man from Figtree in Matebeleland lost his cool and beat up his neighbour before burning down her house after she turned down his love proposal.
The matter came to light at the Plumtree magistrates courts on Thursday where Levison Dube was facing two counts of malicious damage to property and assault.
He pleaded guilty to the charges and was sentenced to two years on both counts by magistrate Joshua Nembaware.
Prosecutor Selestine Madziwa told the court that on January 20 last year, Dube approached his neighbour and proposed love to her saying he was sex starved.
The neighbour turned down the proposal and he severely assaulted her.
The woman was rushed to hospital and, while she was admitted, the convict came back and set her house on fire.
