Midlands secretary for provincial affairs and devolution Edgars Seenza has warned provincial heads of government departments that they risk disciplinary action for dodging burials of liberation war heroes.
Seenza made the threats in his welcome remarks on Thursday at a provincial coordination meeting.
"I have noticed that most heads of government departments do not attend the burials of liberation war heroes," Seenza said.
"This is an issue which we should look at later and address."
His sentiments followed the burial of former soldier and war veteran Gideon Zungurira of Kwekwe who had been conferred the liberation war hero status and was buried at the provincial heroes shrine.
Zungurira died last Thursday after a short illness.
