POLICE in Matabeleland South have launched a manhunt for a five-man gang that allegedly killed a 22-year-old man from Mbuya village under Chief Nyangazonke in Matobo.
Matabeleland South acting police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Thandolwenkosi Moyo identified the deceased as Mathabisi Ncube.
Moyo said the police are appealing for information that may lead to the arrest of the gang members.
"On June 3, 2023, around 11:45 pm, Ncube was accompanied by his girlfriend from Omadu business centre in Maphisa,” he said
“They met five unknown men who started insulting him and he asked them why they were insulting him,” he said.
“They started assaulting him with open hands and a bottle after grabbing him by his neck and pushing him to the ground.

“They disappeared from the scene."
His girlfriend took him to Maphisa hospital and a police report was made.
"On June 9, Ncube went back to Maphisa hospital and was transferred to United Bulawayo Hospital where he died the following day," he said.
