RAYMEG Consultants Private Limited (Raymeg) has launched rabbit sausages, marking yet another groundbreaking milestone for Zimbabwe’s rabbit industry.
"This innovative product follows the successful introduction of Raymeg' rabbit polony, rabbit burgers, and rabbit pies, as we continue to lead in adding value to the rabbit meat industry in Zimbabwe," said Paidamoyo Nyamakanga, executive director at Raymeg.
"At Raymeg, we are committed to diversifying the range of rabbit meat products available, promoting healthier eating options, and contributing to the growth of the local agricultural sector."
Raymeg is a diversified concern with interests in strategic communication, farming, retail and real estate sectors.
It operates in Zimbabwe, South Africa, Kenya and Somalia.
The firm, a member of the Zimbabwe Commercial Rabbit Breeders Association (Zicorba), opened a rabbit abattoir in Harare in 2020 with a processing capacity of 2,5 tonnes of meat per day.
Formed in July 2020 by a group of rabbit farmers, Zicorba is the only collective voice of rabbit farmers in Zimbabwe.
The association has entered into strategic partnerships with a number of other rabbit farmers’ associations in Africa, including Botswana, Kenya, Mozambique, South Africa and Uganda.
