SIX people died on the spot when a Nissan Caravan kombi carrying 19 church congregants veered off the road and overturned.
The accident occurred at the 81km peg along the Bulawayo-Plumtree Highway on Sunday morning.
National police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi said seven other passengers were injured.
He identified the deceased as Chamunorwa Jejeje (32), the driver, of Emganwini, Nokulunga Ncube (43) of Nketa 9, Salathiselu Zikhali Ndlovu (60) of Nkulumane, Marry Jongwe (62) of Emganwini, Essley Mbewe (58) of Nketa 9 and Privilege Simango (23) of Rangemore, all from Bulawayo.
Nyathi said bodies of the victims were taken to Plumtree Hospital mortuary for post mortem, while the injured are admitted at the same hospital.
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police reiterates that motorists should observe stipulated speed limits and abide by the road rules and regulations in-order to curb road accidents. Above all ,drivers are implored to check for mechanical faults on their vehicles before travelling,” he said.
