A 51-year-old Beitbridge man has been arrested on allegations of indecently assaulting a 17-year-old girl he was taking to school as part of his daily duties.
The man is expected to appear in court this week. It is understood the complainant and the accused are neighbours and the accused routinely ferried children to nearby schools every morning.
After dropping primary school children as early as 06:45 on Tuesday, the accused was left with the girl destined for a secondary school in the border town.
Instead, he allegedly drove past the school while pressing the girl's head between her legs. He then stopped at a secluded spot and allegedly forcibly fondled her private parts, tearing her blouse in the process as he attempted to rape her.
The girl fought back, forcing him to release her. She later narrated her ordeal to schoolmates and mother, leading to accused’s arrest under CR167/07/24.
