TWO robbers were yesterday sentenced to seven years in prison following their conviction on six counts of robbery.
Harare magistrate Taurai Manuwere, however, suspended three years of their sentence.
Tafadzwa Sharai (25) and Tawanda Magomba (25) were both handed 10-year sentences each, with three years suspended on conditions of restitution and good behaviour.
Prosecutor Nancy Chandakaona said the State had managed to link Sharai and Magomba to a spate of robberies.
In October 2023, Sharai and Magomba broke into a house in Borrowdale and stole three cellphones a Nokia J9, an Itel S18 and a Samsung Galaxy S6, as well as a BP machine, three wrist watches, US$27 and a red Audi vehicle.
The next month, they allegedly forced entry into another house in Ballantyne Park and stole a Samsung J72 and Samsung F13 cellphones, shoes and bottles of whisky. In February this year, they stole a Huawei cellphone, a Samsung A10 cellphone as well as US$10 cash from another house in Borrowdale.
