A HARARE man was on Monday brought before Harare magistrate Simon Kandiyero facing allegations of theft after failing to account for US$1 235 in a borehole installation deal.
Ephraim Zulu (37) was remanded to today for bail ruling.
Circumstances are that on June 6, 2024, and at number 7 Bolt Avenue Milton Park, Harare, Zulu gave a quotation to the complainant valued at US$3 685,09.
The complainant asked Zulu to remove the cost of a tank stand that made part of the quotation before giving him cash amounting to US$3 100, of which Zulu then asked for a top-up of US$ 700 saying he wanted to buy a DC pump for USD$450 as well as other accessories.
The court heard that the complainant later requested for receipts to account for all the transactions but the accused persons only produced borehole equipment.
Consequently, the accused person failed to account for US$1 235 and nothing was recovered.
