THE National Building Society (NBS) has officially opened a new branch in Bindura, Mashonaland Central province, to offer financial and affordable housing services to marginalised groups in the district.
The opening of the branch in Bindura comes two weeks after the bank launched its microfinance subsidiary, Lenderspark, which mainly targets small-to-medium enterprises and financially marginalised communities.
Speaking at the opening ceremony on Wednesday, NBS acting managing director Sifiso Mahlangu said the bank was committed to inclusivity for the unbanked.
“As we celebrate this milestone in our journey towards making financial services and affordable housing accessible to all Zimbabweans, as witnessed by our gathering here today to officially open the Bindura branch, I would like to acknowledge the Bindura community at large, our shareholder Nssa [National Social Security Authority], and all other key stakeholders for believing in us and for supporting us to bank, build and go beyond,” he said.
“The role of the Bindura branch is our practical commitment to making affordable housing and financial services more accessible to all Zimbabweans, particularly those who want clear, or who have clear aspirations to build their homes through our diverse banking and housing financial solutions.”
Mashonaland Central Provincial Affairs and Devolution minister Christopher Magomo expressed confidence that the Bindura branch would stimulate economic activities in the province.

“It is my hope that this bank will help unlock the vast potential that exists within our province, particularly here in Bindura town,” Magomo said in a speech read on his behalf by a ministry representative, Timothy Maregere.
“Globally, the banking sector is the lifeblood of any economy. The sector mobilises resources and channels them to productive sectors of the economy. I am confident that the establishment of this branch will undoubtedly stimulate economic activities in our province.”
He added: “With expanded options and access to banking services, our small and medium-sized enterprises and individual entrepreneurs will have the support they need to grow and thrive.”
NBS marketing executive Mildret Kujinga said the opening of the branch was part of their bank’s strategic rollout of its 2024 service offerings.
“So, today is a testimony of our strategic rollout for 2024, where Bindura is just but one of the many branches that we are launching in this season, primarily being centred on responding to the call of the market that people have requested for our services, because we work with everyone,” she said.
