A 27 year old man from Epworth has been found guilty of causing the death of a fellow imbiber following a quarrel during a beer drinking binge at a local shebeen .
Simbarashe Maukazuva (27) was found guilty of culpable homicide by Harare regional magistrate Lois Mukunyadze on Friday.
He had denied the charge during trial.
Prosecutor Vimbiso Rundare told the court that on October 4 , 2020 Lovemore Muchechetere (deceased) was drinking beer with his friend Tapiwa Masuka at a local shebeen.
Muchechetere and Masuka later decided to go home, and met Maukazuva along the way.
The court heard that the duo exchanged harsh words with Maukazuva, leading to a fist fight.

In the ensuing melee, Maukazuva slapped Muchechetere on the face, causing to fall headlong on a stone.
Muchechetere was later rushed to a local medical facility as he was bleeding profusely from the head.
He however died the following day, and the postmortem report attributed his death to severe brain damage and multiple skull fractures.
