ZANU PF is drafting a five-year mobilisation and youth empowerment strategy aimed at fulfilling the party’s election promises, party Secretary for Youth Affairs, Tinoda Machakaire, said.
Machakaire, who is also the Youth Empowerment and Development minister, made the remarks while addressing a national youth league executive meeting at the party’s headquarters in Harare.
“Now that elections have come and gone, we now need to put our finger on the pulse and start working, fulfilling all the promises that we made during the campaign period as we start preparing for2028,” Machakaire said
“We must come up with a scientific five year mobilisation and youth empowerment strategy that will keep on monitoring and evaluating at regular intervals.
“Symbiotic relations with all relevant stakeholders in youth development need to be enhanced if we are to achieve our set targets without leaving anyone or any place behind.”
Youth empowerment was among the basket of promises that Zanu PF made ahead of the August 23 and 24 elections.

Machakaire said his appointment to the Youth ministry provides a platform to initiate various youth empowerment programmes as outlined in the party’s election promises.
“Myself, I am humbled to have been appointed the Minister…My appointment is strategic as this will further cement the already existing cordial relations between the Youth League and the ministry of Youth in our quest to achieve national youth development goals,” he said.
He went on to commend the Youth League for their role in the lead to the elections.
“I wish to commend the entire Youth League from cell to national level for your peaceful conduct and implementation of robust campaign strategies through a peaceful, credible and fair election. Your presence on the ground was felt and it yielded the much anticipated win for the party,” he said.
Machakaire also rallied the patry’s youth to campaign for his deputy, John Paradza, ahead of next month’s by-election in Gutu West Constituency.
“We are all aware that we are our own, comrade Paradza will be contesting during the forthcoming Gutu West constituency by-election scheduled for the 11th of November.
“In this regard we shall all descend on Gutu and vigorously campaign for our party and one of our own , we must bring the constituency home and without fail,” he added
