Zimbabwe Consolidated Diamond Company (ZCDC) chief executive officer Mark Mabhudhu has been placed on suspension by the board.
Although the reasons for his suspension were not clear by the time of going to print, sources have said the suspension is as a result of factional fights within the government.
The control of diamonds in the country has always been politicized.
Efforts to contact ZCDC board chairman Munashe Shava were fruitless as he was not picking up calls while messages sent to him via WhatsApp were blue ticked but not responded to.
Mines and Mining Development permanent secretary Pfungwa Kunaka the communication is yet to reach his office.
“I have not yet heard the news and the communication has not yet reached our office maybe it’s still at the board level,” he said.
