THE Anglican Diocese of Manicaland says it will leave no stone unturned in its bid to empower the girl child, claiming it made significant improvements on its schools for girls in Manicaland province last year.
The diocese runs at least 54 schools in the province.
In an interview, diocesan secretary Edmond Samutereko said the church believes investing in the girl child’s education is key to national development.
“We have done several projects, especially in our schools, while we have applied for funding we have drilled about three boreholes at St Catherine’s in Rusape, we have also drilled a borehole which is solar-powered because sometime the council in Rusape will go for almost a week without water,” Samutereko said
“Some are full boarders, others are day scholars. We offer a balanced curriculum which takes cognisance of the requirements of the dynamic world that we are living in.
“We appreciate that we are preparing the girl child for a bright future, so everything is done to fulfil that vision. St Catherine of Alexandria Girls College offers the Cambridge syllabus.
