THE fifth edition of the Kariba October Festival (KOF) lived up to its billing on Saturday attracting thousands of patrons from Zimbabwe and neighbouring Zambia.

The 2023 festival opened with an oversubscribed eight-hour boat cruise.

The boat cruise ran concurrently with the KOF family show at Lake Harvest Sports Club where the main event was later staged the whole of Saturday night until the wee hours on Sunday.

Patrons enjoyed entertainment from a line-up of DJs and local artistes with Nyasha David who was the main act thrilling the crowd with his bag of hits.

Describing the event as a resounding success, Zim Events director Tinashe Chikuse said: “Attendees also indulged in delicious local cuisine, offering a wide range of dishes from roasted corn to roasted meat.”

There were beaming faces all round as revellers soaked in the unforgettable experience.

“We have realised that the KOF is actually a calendar event that the Karibians look out for, so there is need to have different corporates coming on board under different packages to partner or sponsor. We learnt that everyone's idea is important,” he told NewsDay Life & Style.

“As Zim Events we are ready to work with all those who are willing to make Kariba a hub of activities, while enjoying the world's largest man-made Lake.

 “This year’s event was our fifth anniversary and we want to thank all our patrons we have been with for five years together promoting Kariba and also new patrons who joined us in celebrating this milestone of making domestic tourism a contributor to the growth of our economy,” he added.

Kariba October Festival has become a big event on the national calendar promoting local tourism.
