Wait, don’t change the queue

Opinion & Analysis

HUMANITY is looking up to God the Creator and Father for either showing Himself strong in a seeming predicament or either an answer to prayer of deliverance or salvation.

For the adherence of this column, I remain dedicated and committed to onerous mission of proclaiming the Grace of God.

It is because of everyday challenges common to man that throw some off the pedestal that I teach the basics of wisdom for living once in a while.

We are not here to psyche you up and give you some semblance of hope to expect tomorrow.

The Bible is definitive in matters it addresses and deals with giving readers the truth.

Those who wrestle with it are most likely lazy in reading, studying or meditating on it and above all err in rightly dividing the Word of Truth.

Knowingly or unknowingly, consciously or unconsciously, Christians and non-Christians, including Satanists and atheists, are waiting upon the Lord to manifest Himself in their lives.

Probably, you are looking up to God for a husband/wife, employment, house, car, healing or spiritual blessing.

Whatever the case might be, you are expecting and hoping that the issues of your life will be solved and the mysteries demystified.

Some have the staying power yet others cannot last the distance.

Some have high level of faith and trust in God that they are convinced that at the appropriate time, God will bring a smile to their faces and joy unspeakable to their heart.

Others go before the Lord with human timetables and targets which God is not signatory to and therefore not bound to execute. Does God listen to human beings?

We have a precedence which unfortunately we cannot sustain in biblical doctrine.

We read Joshua 10:14, “And there was no day like that before it or after it, that the LORD hearkened unto the voice of a man: for the LORD fought for Israel.”

We have a new and living way under the New Covenant for God the Father to listen to us.

We are assured by Hebrews 10:19-20, “[19] Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, [20] By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh;”

I have met people who think that they care for their lives more than God cares for them.

There are Christians who think that God is the Author of their failure.

However we know, Hebrews 12:2, “Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.”

Many have developed anger and bitterness at God and, therefore, opened a door for demonic entrance and manipulation and this has led many into the occult, witchcraft and Satanism.

The essence of Christianity is to hold on to God based on His promises in the Scriptures.

The challenge, however, is impatience.

This is made worse by the world around us.

We are discouraged and defeated by testimonies of others.

We see others marrying and wedding, getting promoted, acquiring houses and cars and we perceive and conclude that God does not care for us.

At times if your faith is being tested, the more you go to church, the more you get frustrated.

Let not your conclusion be based upon what you see around you, but what the spiritual realm has for you.

The art of waiting is of immense importance to your faith in God and walk with Christ.

Whatever it takes, learn to wait upon the Lord.

From a Zimbabwean viewpoint, you have experienced and endured queues one way or the other; in supermarkets, banks, bus termini, passport office to name just but a few.

Haven’t you ever joined a queue in a supermarket and thought that it was not moving fast and joined another one which you thought was fast enough only for it to slow down just as you joined it and you have not been humble enough to return to the original queue?

Waiting entails not changing goalposts.

Remain positioned where God planted you.

Don’t ever change from whatever you have trusted and believed God for.

The cardinal rule of queue is that the queue you are on is the slowest, don’t change.

As a case study, let us look at King Saul of Israel, who lost the kingship for himself and his descendants because of impatience.

Just after being anointed king, Samuel the priest instructs him to wait for him, I Samuel 10:8, “And thou shalt go down before me to Gilgal; and, behold, I will come down unto thee, to offer burnt offerings, and to sacrifice sacrifices of peace offerings: seven days shalt thou tarry, till I come to thee, and shew thee what thou shalt do.”

Samuel took time to turn up and on the seventh day the enemy, that is the Philistine army, was so close and some of Saul’s soldiers began to leave him.

Please note that seven days were not yet over even only few hours or minutes were left.

Can I speak to the Sarahs, women with twelve years with issue of blood and many who see or hear about God next door?

Saul panicked and then offered the sacrifices, a job reserved for the priest. Just as he had finished offering and just before the end of the seventh day, Samuel arrived.

To cut the story short, 1 Samuel 13:13-14, “[13] And Samuel said to Saul, Thou hast done foolishly: thou hast not kept the commandment of the LORD thy God, which He commanded thee: for now would the LORD have established thy kingdom upon Israel for ever. But now thy kingdom shall not continue: the LORD hath sought him a man after his own heart, and the LORD hath commanded him to be captain over his people, because thou hast not kept that which the Lord commanded thee,” concludes the story.

Waiting means waiting. Maybe you are contemplating giving up, please don’t. You will regret for the rest of your life.

I know you have kept yourself pure for 30 or 40 years and no one seems interested in marrying you, please do not surrender to a married man.

Probably you have waited for your house, car or job for long; I say keep waiting.

This is not the time to try witchdoctors. You have covered the greater part of the journey — don’t surrender.

Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen. Grace and peace be multiplied to you through knowledge.
