Thoughts on Christianity and morality

Opinion & Analysis
Accepting the Gospel of Christ and receiving the life of Christ is the Way, Door and key to heaven.

THERE are many people who have watched the conduct of Christians and seen a lot to be deserved.

They have refused the Christian faith because they saw some non believers having better virtues.

The saying goes; if so and so enters heaven, I will enter easily.

That is exactly how the devil wants it. He wants people to have so called good morals without Jesus.

Accepting the Gospel of Christ and receiving the life of Christ is the Way, Door and key to heaven.

We read John 14:6, “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” Jesus is the Way, Gate or Door.

Believers have the Life and life eternal according to 1 John 5:11-12, “[11] And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. [12] He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.”

Good morals without Jesus is death. Are we advocating for Christianity without values and morality? Certainly No.

While good morals are good characteristics of humanity, sound morals devoid of salvation don’t get us to heaven.

We don’t strive for good morals first in order to become Christians.

Jesus came to save us in our worst condition.

Romans 5:8 tells us, “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” Jesus died for us in our sinful nature.

Morals without Jesus is religion. Christianity is not a religion but the life of Christ in the heart of the believer.

We do not go to Jesus with self righteousness because it will be denial of His finished work.

Mark 2:17 records, “When Jesus heard it, he saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”

Jesus came to solve the sin problem for us. We are told by Matthew 1:21, “And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.”

Good behaviour is commendable but we are not accepted on the basis of our good values.

We cannot argue on the day of judgement that we were better than some people who called themselves Christians. It is and will always be; did you receive Jesus or not.

Our works are filthy before God and cannot save us.

Apostle Paul tells us in Ephesians 2:8-9, “[8] For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: [9] Not of works, lest any man should boast.”

Jesus is so superior than how we can behave.

The Bible is not a book on morality but salvation.

The New Testament is the work of the Holy Spirit inside us. It is not judgement by outward appearance.

Christianity is on a higher pedestal than morality.

We live according to the principle of life according to Romans 8:2, “For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.”

When the Holy Spirit works in, He produces fruit of the Spirit in us. We have eternal life and the Holy Spirit working in us.

We read Galatians 5:22-23, Amplified, “[22] But the fruit of the Spirit [the result of His presence within us] is love [unselfish concern for others], joy, [inner] peace, patience [not the ability to wait, but how we act while waiting], kindness, goodness, faithfulness, [23] gentleness, self-control. Against such things there is no law.”

We are not judged by the law. We submit to inner working of the Holy Spirit.

The work is inside out according to Philippians 2:12-13, “[12] Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. [13] For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.”

We don’t work for but the Holy Spirit works in us.

We will look closely at the word obedience next week. Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen. Grace and peace be multiplied to you through knowledge.
