The video, which was released late last week, had by yesterday afternoon clocked 105 666 views and 2 022 likes on youtube.

AFRO-POP and R‘n’B sensation Ammara Brown and Njabulo “Tytan” Nkomo’s video of the chart-topping song, Mukoko, has gone viral on youtube despite concerns by conservatives that some of the songbird’s intriguing dances were sexually-charged.

The video, which was released late last week, had by yesterday afternoon clocked 105 666 views and 2 022 likes on youtube.

Tytan told NewsDay that the idea behind the video was to celebrate the Zimbabwean identity through music and dance, adding that he was charmed by the international impact it has made in such a short time.

“What inspired this video release is the idea behind celebrating our identity as Zimbabweans through music and dance,” Tytan, who is also songstress Cynthia Mare’s manager, said.

“It’s really exciting that people all over the world love it. In a few days, cumulatively we have reached over 100 000 views on social networks.”

Following the huge response, Tytan said they were confident that the video had a great chance of making an impact on the international entertainment scene.

Other viewers have hinted that between the lines, the Jusa Dementer-produced video carried a “naughty” message, using flirtatious word-play to relate a mature and wise woman to a honey-dripping beehive (Mukoko).

The track has been reportedly described by BBC Radio 1/1Xtra DJ Edu as “a big tune with a cross-over potential.”
