OVER 20 local gospel artistes will on July 16 converge at the Harare Gardens to celebrate the hit song Ebenezer — Tiri Munyasha’s success after it scooped a prestigious award recently in South Africa.

The song by South Africa-based Togarepi Chivaviro and other local gospel artistes last month won in the Best Collaboration category during the inaugural Trumpet Africa Gospel Music Awards (Tagma), a platform meant to recognise and honour artists from the African continent.
Itai Sandras, who is organising the event, said a number of local artistes, including those who featured on the song, will hold a free show in the capital celebrating the latest achievement.
“The Harare Gardens show is on. We are celebrating Ebenezer song for scooping an award as a best collaboration song in the whole of Africa. This is a major achievement for the local gospel fraternity to win a continental award,” he said.
Sandras said several artistes including Mechanic Manyeruke, Rumbie Zvirikuzhe, Noel Zembe, Bethany Pasinawako and Lawrence Haisa who were part of the collaboration, will perform at the free show.
Other gospel artistes to take part in the celebrations are Blessing Shumba, Tatenda Mahachi, Trymore Bande and Heartfelt Ministries Choir. The award celebrations will also be held in Bulawayo and Mutare.

Speaking from his base in South Africa, Chivaviro said he was humbled by the honour shown to him by fellow gospel musicians.
“I am so humbled by this recognition from fellow musicians, our record company and fans. The award is not only for team Ebenezer. The song Ebenezer now belongs to the nation, therefore, the award is for Zimbabwe, we hope all Zimbabweans who were blessed by the song will converge in numbers so that we celebrate together,” he said.
